Video: Fionn – Hold Off | York Calling

Canadian pop twins Fionn never seem to put the brakes on when it comes to releasing music and, amazingly, each track is as much a banger as the last. Their latest Hold Off comes with a twist – it was co-written by Mariana Trench front man Josh Ramsay.

By Graeme Smith

Fionn has been experimenting with genre as of late but Hold Off sees a return to pure pop. There’s a sweetness to its bright melody and the pre-chorus, with its moments of strings and percussion, is a particularly delightful intro to its hooky chorus.

The track features on the girls’ new EP Candid Constellations which is also released today. Alongside it, you can find previous shares Taste For It, Space and Dirty Dancing as well as previously unreleased material. If you haven’t read any of my previous coverage of Fionn (or even if you have), definitely check out the EP – you won’t be disappointed.
