One day in Vancouver: pop duo Fionn | Eat North

The rising popstars on where they love to eat and drink

Despite the momentum of a 2018 debut album that saw Vancouver singer-songwriter duo Fionn go from relatively well-known local performers to internationally-acclaimed music stars, Brianne and Alanna Finn-Morris decided it was time for a change.

Following a series of major life moments that lead to some serious self-growth, the duo embarked on a powerful new era of their musical careers and changed directions with the release of a new pop-centric production titled Everyone’s A Critic

Combining danceable beats and the twin sister’s radiant harmonies with contemporary and vintage pop sensibilities, Everyone’s A Critic embraces a more playful side, while still delivering the honest lyricism and captivating storytelling Fionn has become known for.

Since then, the duo have gone on to release a series of singles that continue to take the twin sisters’ musical trajectory on an upward path. Inspired by the upbeat 80’s pop they turn to when they’re feeling down, new tracks like “Dirty Dancing” and “Taste For It” deliver a much-needed dose of buoyant energy during a time when we all need it most.

We recently had a chance to chat with the folk-pop sisters, who filled us in on all of their favourite places to eat and drink in their home base of Vancouver.

Breakfast

Le Marché St. George was the best cafe we found when exploring the neighborhood around our first apartment. Located in the suburbs around 28th and Main, it has a low-key rustic atmosphere and serves up amazing crepes and croissant sandwiches! Our favourite thing to order is their turkey and Brie croissant!

Lunch

The Hunnybee Bruncheonette is a perfect place to visit with a friend. The space is perfect for a chat with a latte, and the cafe offers breakfast all day! Since we usually enjoy eating breakfast for lunch, this is the perfect place for us. Try the rose and coconut bircher muesli!

Dinner

CinCin‘s house made pasta is absolutely to die for! Paired with the ambience and a good glass of wine, it makes for the perfect dining experience! They also have house-made gelato and it is the best we`ve ever had.

Definitely a must-go!

Drinks

Whenever we want to go for drinks Chinatown is [where we start the night off] and The Keefer Bar is our favourite. The cocktails are the best we’ve ever had and the atmosphere is dark and moody. They also serve dim sum through the night which is always such a treat!

Definitely check out the Skeleton Kiss cocktail the next time you go!

The Emerald is where we would head to next. Though it doesn’t look like much from the outside, their little green door leads you up a staircase into a moody lounge with a great selection of cocktails and small bites.

If you go, we would recommend you try their smoky margarita!
