604 Records celebrates the 20th anniversary of Marianas Trench’s debut album Fix Me, originally released in 2006. To mark two decades since the album’s release, Fix Me has been remastered and expanded with five bonus tracks, including the previously unreleased demo “Already Missing,” recovered from a burned CD stored in a 604 Records vault.

The original Fix Me captures a hugely ambitious Vancouver quartet that had spent years writing, fine-tuning, and performing together before making their full-length record. Even then, the band’s ambitions were clear. “We are ready to take over the world and save the universe from evil,” said lead singer, Josh Ramsay, back in 2006. “We are persistent little bastards. We want to be doing 250 shows a year. We will eat Kraft Dinner every night. We are prepared to do whatever it takes.”

Their persistence paid off. Since then, the band has received two certified triple platinum records, one platinum record, a certified gold-selling record, triple platinum digital singles, and multiple awards including 2013 JUNO Award for Group of the Year and chart-topping radio hits including “Stutter,” “Fallout,” and “Who Do You Love.”

The 20th anniversary edition brings together the  remastered original album tracks alongside five bonus tracks: “Fix Me (B-Side),” “Primetime,” “Sicker Things,” “Feeling Small,” and the previously  unreleased demo “Already Missing.” The demo was recovered from a burned CD that  had been stored in a 604 Records vault, giving fans an exciting new piece of Marianas Trench’s history.

604 President and Co-Founder Jonathan Simkin shares:

“Fix Me, the first album by Marianas Trench, is one of the most important releases in the history of 604 Records. Not only did it establish Marianas Trench as an important band in Canada, but it also established an approach to marketing music that 604 continues to employ in the present day. The music videos 604 made for songs from Fix Me did remarkably well, and in many ways drove the success of that album given radio was unsure where to slot the band. The rock stations thought the band too pop, and the pop stations thought the band too rock, so as a collective we decided to double down on the music videos, on touring, and on social media. Marianas were ahead of the game in terms of their use of social media and their use of YouTube to create fun content aimed at their fans. The band spent countless hours on MySpace interacting with their growing fanbase. The fact that Shake Tramp video was nominated for a Juno and when to #1 on the MuchMusic countdown was just a cherry on top. By the end of the album cycle, we had a real base of dedicated fans all over the world. Then, there is the music. The multi-layered vocals which became a trademark of the band started here with songs like Decided to Break it and the beach boy-esque Shake tramp. There is the pure pop-punk of Say Anything. And the angst and release of Skin and Bones (possibly my favourite all time Marianas song!). There are hints of the juggernaut pop machine that the band would turn into, but as a self-contained work of art, Fix Me is an enduring masterpiece beloved by many. Happy Birthday!”

The anniversary release is available exclusively on physical formats, with no digital release currently planned. The deluxe 2LP vinyl edition features updated artwork, two red and black marbled discs, lyrics, previously unseen photos from the original album photoshoot, and a message from the band. The CD edition also features updated artwork, lyrics, previously unseen photos from the original photoshoot, and a message from the band.

To celebrate the anniversary, 604 Records is also releasing a special Marianas Trench Day collection featuring a T-shirt, a zip-up hoodie with one of the band’s first ever merchandise designs, and the 20th anniversary editions of Fix Me on CD and vinyl.
