Matthew Johnston signs with 604!

January 16, 2014

London, Ontario native and prolific songwriter, Matthew Johnston, has signed to 604 Records in anticipation of his debut full-length record The World Will Break Your Heart. The album, to be released in 2014, includes seventeen songs that continuously flow into one another without a single break in sound.

“I knew from an early stage that each song should be able to stand on its own, but together I wanted to tell a larger story.”

A self-taught, multi-instrumentalist, Matthew feels most comfortable on stage and has gained experience touring coast to coast. Aside from writing, producing, and performing his own music, Matthew has written and produced for SHAD, Classified, and Kayo. He has also joined SHAD on stage as his touring drummer.

Matthew’s first single off the LP, “Explosions In The Sky” is both emotional and mature while maintaining a youthful exuberance. It struggles with the idea of love and loss and explores those fleeting moments we all have dealt with at some point in our lives.

“Explosions In The Sky is really about slowing down life. It’s about trying to be present in
every moment; something we can all get better at.”

Look for “Explosions In The Sky” to hit radio this month, with a video and the LP to follow.
